Termites Facts & Information

Termite Control in Hong Kong; Protect your home or business from these “silent destroyers.”

What do termites look like?

Termites are generally 1/4 to 1/2 inch long with soft bodies and straight antennae. Queens and kings are larger, reaching over one inch in length. Colors can range from white to light brown. Termites are known as “silent destroyers” because of  their ability to chew through wood, flooring, and even wallpaper undetected.

There are about 2,000 known termite species in the world. Each year, termites cause more than $5 billion in property damage.- costs that aren’t covered by homeowners insurance policies. This is why being vigilant about termite control in Hong Kong and termite extermination is so important.

In Hong Kong, the most commonly found species include:

  • 1

    Coptotermes formosanus (or C formosanus)

  • 2

    Odontotermes Formosanus

  • 3

    Macrotermes Barneyi

  • 4

  • 5

    C Formosanus

These species can infest different types of buildings, from village houses to high-rises, and do not necessarily require soil for survival.

How Do I Get Rid of Termites?

Since termites can cause severe damage to your home or business, Nobedbugs-HK offers a range of customized termite treatment plans based on the degree of infestation.

Our treatments may include:

Heat Treatment

This option can be done directly at your premises or in our specifically designed heating room. (recommended for extremely valuable items)

Liquid Termite Treatment

We spray liquid termiticide directly at the infested areas and may drill and inject in some cases.

Dry Foam

We apply this directly to the infested areas.

Termite Bait System

We use baits that contain insect growth regulators and substances that termites feed on (e.g. cellulose) and place them in the active infestation areas either above or under the ground. Worker termites feed on these baits and carry them back to their colony to feed other termites, ultimately leading to colony elimination.

Powder Termite Treatment

We apply this directly to the affected areas.
